Good question! The Management Committee are the group of people who run the charity. They have overall responsibility for:

  • setting the strategic direction

  • good governance

  • managing the use of the charity’s funds

  • oversight of our staff and operations

  • making sure we are legally compliant.

Management Committee Struture

Our Management Committee are all volunteers who give up their time to support the charity. All Committee Members are also members of the charity and the Committee can be made up of up to 10 people. The following ‘office bearer’ positions exist according to our constitution:

  • Chairperson

  • Vice-Chairperson

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary.

Management Committee members can either be appointed at our AGM, or voted in by the existing Management Committee.

You don’t need any special skills to volunteer for this role as full training will be provided, all you need is a willingness to support the group.

Time Commitment

The Management Committee meets ten times a year (monthly except for in July and December). A pack of information is circulated ahead of the meeting. The normal time commitment is an hour of your time to read the pack before the meeting and an hour for the meeting. So in total, that’s 20 hours a year!

It’s really important that members and parents continue to support us and it’s as simple as this: no Management Committee, no Gordon Park ELC.

If you think that this is something you could support with and would like to have an informal chat, please contact the Chairperson in the first instance.
